ALAMOSA, Colo. (September 19, 2014) -- The Adams State University women's volleyball team swept the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions tonight from Plachy Hall. ASU now moves to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play. UCCS falls to 3-7, 0-2 RMAC with the loss.
The Grizzlies capture the win via set scores of 25-11, 25-13, and 25-21. Outside hitter
Lindsey Stindt led the Grizzlies with 15 kills, two digs, and one block. She continues her streak which now stands at eight consecutive matches recording 10+ kills.
Freshman
Katelyn Schwartz led the team with 33 assists and
Gabrielle Timmen led the team with 10 digs.
Mallory Grimsrud proved to be a nuisance at the net for the Mountain Lions, totaling six blocks to lead all players. Compare that to UCCS who totaled six blocks as a team. Grimsrud also had seven kills for the Grizzlies on the night.
The Grizzlies hit .303 for the evening—their second highest mark on the season (.381 vs. University of Alaska-Fairbanks, 9/12). The Mountain Lions accumulated a .182 attacking percentage who were led by the efforts of Lauren Hahn with 10 kills and two total blocks.
ASU has now won five consecutive matches and seven of their past eight contests. Â
The Grizzlies play tomorrow against the Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners. That RMAC contest will tip of at 5:00 p.m.
The match will precede the football game against Colorado Mesa University.
