ALAMOSA, Colo. (September 28, 2014) -- The Adams State University Grizzlies men's soccer team lost today in their bout versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) foe, Colorado Mesa University by a score of 2-1. Adams State now falls to 1-6 on the season and 0-4 in RMAC play. Colorado Mesa improves to 5-2-1 on the season and 3-1 in the RMAC.

The Grizzlies, who are still looking for the first win in conference play, found themselves with the upper-hand early when they took the lead in the first half with
J.J. Dennis' first goal of the season. The goal was scored in the 8th minute and was assisted by freshman
Carlos Castro who is continuing his recent spell of excellent form for Adams. The Grizzlies maintained that lead throughout the first half and carried it into halftime, leading the Mavericks 1-0.
Colorado Mesa outshot Adams State by a 5-1 margin in the first half. Mesa also had one corner kick attempt while Adams State did not record a corner. ASU goalkeeper
Austin Baumeister recorded two saves in the first half.

After a 30 minute lightning delay, Colorado Mesa took control of the game in the second half which was difficult for the Grizzly defense to keep at bay. Mesa produced seven more shots on target in the second half, while two of those shots were able to find the back of the net off header opportunities. Mesa scored in the 56 minute by striker Roy Abergil who was assist by Roberto Diaz. They scored again with a header from Stevie Palma with the assist by Oliver Querin in the 74
th minute.

For the half, Colorado Mesa outshot Adams State 7-2. Mesa had six corner attempts in the second half which proved to be pivotal for the Maverick attack.
