Michael Middlebrooks all tallied double digit scoring marks as Adams State University controlled the pace in a 74-60 win against Regis University on Saturday night. The Grizzlies improve to 9-5 overall and 5-5 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play with the win. The game serves as the program's third conference road win of the season.
It was an efficient offensive outing for ASU who shot 60 percent from the floor and 45 percent from three-point range. Defensively the Grizzlies limited the Rangers who were led by Roberto Reyes with 15 points off the bench. Pressure applied by ASU made things difficult for Regis who trailed 37-29 at halftime behind 42 percent shooting from the field and a 0-for-4 mark from three.
The Grizzlies maintained the lead for the entire duration of the game and led by as much as 24 late in the second period. Adams State enforced their will near the basket with 46 points in the paint and collected 18 points off 17 Regis turnovers.
Adams State now returns to Plachy Hall for a Jan. 23 meeting with Colorado School of Mines. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
