ALAMOSA, Colo. (January 23, 2015) – Adams State University went on a 24-6 run in the first half to take the lead over the ninth-ranked Colorado School of Mines Orediggers but a difficult second stanza resulted in a 91-69 defeat for the Grizzlies in front of a lively Plachy Hall crowd on Friday night.
The aforementioned run pushed ASU to a 30-29 lead with just over a minute until halftime. The Orediggers retaliated with a 15-3 burst in the second half which kept Mines with the lead for the remainder of the game. ASU was unable to produce a second significant stretch of offense to eliminate Mines' double digit lead.

Juwan Buchanan led Adams State in defeat with 18 points in 33 minutes of action. Fellow classmate

Justin Kauffman added seven points off the bench. Mines, who shot 70 percent (22-31) from the field after halftime, had four players tally double digit totals highlighted by 19 points apiece from Brian Muller and Trevor Ritchie.
The Grizzlies were efficient in the opening 20 minutes of play by shooting 56 percent (13-23) but saw production drop to 41 percent shooting (13-31) in the second half.
With the loss Adams State falls to 9-6 overall with an even 6-6 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play. Meanwhile, Mines improves to 15-1, 11-1 RMAC.
