Box ScoreLAS VEGAS, N.M. (January 29, 2015) – The Adams State University wrestling team continued their season on the road Thursday night for a dual with New Mexico Highlands University. Despite some notable performances the Grizzlies were defeated by the Cowboys, 27-15.

Against the Cowboys,
Jerry Huff continued his big season as the third-ranked wrestler at 125 to improve to 19-5 overall,
Mark Mabry, Jr. continued his recent winning streak to move to 14-10, and
Justin Samora returned for a win after an extended absence due to injury.

First up on the night was Huff at 125. The senior pinned Jacob Espana at the 1:46 mark for his fourth pin of the season.

At 141, Highland's Dan Gaylor took the match in a slim 9-7 victory over ASU's
J.C. Henderson. Â
Devin Vasquez followed at 149 but was taken down by Reis Humphrey in a 12-5 decision. NMHU's Kellen Pelzel toppled
Jacob Deaguero in a 9-7 decision at 157.

Samora won by decision at 165 against Juan Alvarado and was later followed by Mabry Jr. at 174 who continued his late hot streak by pinning Highlands' Hayden Riggs 21 seconds into the second period. With Mabry Jr.'s win, ASU caught up and tied NMHU at 15-15 through six matches.

Momentum quickly refocused back to the Cowboys at 184 as Easton Hargrave defeated
Mario Garcia in a 11-1 major decision. Luis Terrazas then took down ASU's
Amer Tipura with a 14-1 major decision at 197. Â

The evening ended with Cody Marquez beating
Austin Andrade with a 10-2 major decision.

The Grizzlies wrestling squad now travels to Edmond, Okla. on Saturday to dual the Bronchos of the University of Central Oklahoma.
