Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. (October 2, 2015)—In a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matchup, the Adams State University Grizzlies' women's soccer team squared off against the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs Mountain Lions earlier this afternoon at the ASU Soccer complex. In a game that was a battle against the wind for both teams, UCCS managed to find the net in the last two minutes to get the 1-0 win.
The first period saw
Dezirae Armijo come out strong for the Grizzlies with the first shot on net, but the shot was denied by the Mountain Lions goalkeeper Brandi Arsenault. UCCS would try and draw the first blood with three corner kicks and one shot all in a span of three minutes, but would unsuccessful in finding the back of the Grizzlies' net.
Hope Cruz would try and get Adams State on the board, but her shot was also denied by Arsenault.
In the first perios, the Grizzlies tallied four shots on net, with UCCS tallying eleven.
To start the second, the Mountain Lions would strike first with a shot that ended up wide of the Grizzly net.
Natalie Wheelock would try and get a Grizzly lead, but her shot would be wide, too.
Armijo would prove to be a force to be reckoned with as she managed to get off two more shots, but just couldn't find the back of the net.
The Grizzlies would fight against the wind and a tough UCCS defense, but in the eighty- seventh minute, the Mountain Lions would score the only goal of the contest.
Overall, Adams State had eight shots on net, with six belonging to Armijo. Wheelock and Cruz each tallied one. Goalkeeper
Molly O'Connor faced seven saves against UCCS.
