SILVER CITY, NM (October 9, 2015) —The Adams State University volleyball team lost tonight on the road in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matchup against the Western New Mexico University Mustangs. With tonight's loss, the Grizzlies have dropped two consecutive RMAC games as their record falls to 3-12, 2-5 in conference play. The Mustangs improve their record to 13-3, 8-0 RMAC.
The Grizzlies lost tonight's game versus the Mustangs in four sets via match scores of 25-15, 25-21, 21-25, and 25-18. ASU's lone win came in set three. The offensive output from WNMU's Leeta Grap and Kellie McGhiey proved to test the Grizzly defense throughout the game. Grap led the Mustangs with 18 kills while McGhiey chipped in 13. Mustang middle blocker Shannon Rich totaled eight blocks (six solo).
For the Grizzlies,
Alex Parker led the team with 12 kills.
Mallory Grimsrud had a fine all-around showing by collecting10 kills paired with five blocks. Setter
Katelyn Schwartz accounted for every single assist the Grizzlies posted, netting a grand total of 38. Libero
Savannah Smith had 17 digs on the night.
The Grizzlies will be on the road in their next RMAC scheduled game against New Mexico Highlands University. The game is slotted for 7 p.m. tomorrow from Las Vegas, N.M.
