MBB | Offensive Surge Sends ASU To Win Over CCU

ALAMOSA, Colo. (December 11, 2015) — For the first time this season Adams State University eclipsed the century mark en route to their second consecutive win. The Grizzlies shot 52 percent (32-61) from the field to down Colorado Christian University, 105-95, on Friday night.

The Grizzlies (3-4, 2-0 RMAC) finished with six players in double figures paced by 23 points from DJ Morgan. The junior transfer did the bulk of his work from the charity stripe by going 14-of-18. EJ Hubbard II added 15 points and went 5-of-6 from three-point territory. Kendyl Grover chipped in 20 points; 14 of which came in the first period.

A shootout emerged early between the two RMAC foes that resulted in a 54-48 halftime lead for ASU. The Cougars (4-4, 0-2 RMAC) battled back after the break and took a 58-57 lead thanks to an Isaiah Hanson layup at the 17:15 mark. The lead continued to swing back-and-forth until Adams State went on a 26-19 run in the final 5:48 of regulation.

Hanson paced CCU with 26 points as five other Cougars recorded double figures in the loss. For the game, CCU shot 55 percent (33-60) from the field.

Adams State returns to the hardwood tomorrow night against No. 15 Colorado School of Mines. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm in Plachy Hall.
