Mike Hemsley's 24 points from 10-of-11 shooting, the Adams State University men's basketball team cruised to an 85-52 victory over Regis University on Friday night. As winners of seven of their last eight games, the Grizzlies head into tomorrow night's senior day against No. 9 Metropolitan State University of Denver with a 16-7 overall record and a 12-7 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) tilts.
With tonight's win ASU completes their season sweep over Regis. Like their first meeting on Jan. 17 in Denver, the Grizzlies never trailed the Rangers at any point in the game. The two teams began on opposite ends of the shooting spectrum as the Rangers shot 27 percent (5-18) in the opening stanza compared to 57 percent (16-28) for Adams State.

Louis Wilson to utilize every player on the active roster. The use of 13 players resulted in a 34-18 ASU edge in bench points.
For the game, Adams State shot 56 percent (30-53) from the field as
Mikey Hope,
Juwan Buchanan, and
Travante Williams each scored 10 points to join Hemsley in double figures. Dylan King paced the Rangers with 11 points in defeat as Regis drops to 5-18, 3-16 RMAC.
Note: Prior to the game, Regis head coach Lonnie Porter was recognized for his contributions to the game of basketball. Porter announced before the season that the 2014-15 campaign would be his last. He has served as Regis' head coach since 1977. Porter is an Adams State alumnus and was a member of the men's basketball program from 1961-65.
