ALAMOSA, Colo. (February 20, 2015) — The Adams State University Grizzlies women's basketball team lost tonight in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matchup against the Regis University Rangers by a score 60-49. With tonight's loss, Adams falls to 3-20 on the season and 3-16 in RMAC play. With the win Regis improves their over record to 15-8 while being 11-8 in the RMAC. The Grizzlies were offensively led by
Desiree Anderson and
J'nae Squires-Horton. Both players tallied 10 points each. Anderson also made her presence known on the defensive side of the ball as well. She was effective on the boards, swallowing up five rebounds and also snagging four steals in tonight's affair.
The Rangers posed a high level of defensive pressure that exposed cracks in the Grizzlies offensive efforts. As a result Regis was able to inject 20 points off turnovers. However, the Grizzly bench chipped in 18 points to keep the game relatively close. Deep into the second half, the Grizzlies pulled ahead of the visiting Rangers by a point with less than seven minutes left to play. Regis concluded the game on a 12-3 run to close out the game to seal the victory.
Offensively they were led by Carasee Williams who scored 15 points and Bay'lee Purdy who scored 12. The Grizzlies welcome Metro State tomorrow (Feb. 21) for a scheduled 5:30 tipoff from Plachy Hall.
