BB | Grizzlies Fall 13-5 Against Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS (March 10, 2015) – With a four-run second inning Adams State University took a 4-3 lead over the United States Air Force Academy on Tuesday afternoon from Falcon Field. However, the lead was short-lived as the Falcons added a pair of runs in the third and tacked on a total of eight runs in the last three frames for a 13-5 non-conference win over the Grizzlies. Adams State moves to 6-8 overall in defeat as Air Force moves to 6-8 overall with the win.

Back-to-back RBI singles from Marco Garmendia and Nico Porreco provided the first two runs for ASU in the second -- both of which came with the bases loaded. After a Falcon pitching change the Grizzlies added an unconventional run via a bases loaded balk to score Quinn Tiernan. Two batters later a Tyler Thurston grounder to shortstop brought Garmendia across home plate.

Dillon Granzella notched a RBI double to left center in the seventh inning to round out the ASU scoring for the day.

At the dish, Zach Moldenhauer and Granzella each collected two hits. Air Force pitcher Trent Monaghan was credited with the win as outfielder Tyler Jones went 2-of-3 with three RBI.

With the non-conference season over it'll be Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) action for the remainder of the season beginning with a four game home series against Colorado State University-Pueblo. Game one is set for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch on March 13.
