ALAMOSA, Colo. (March 13, 2015) – Adams State University benefited from a pair of two RBI homers from
Drew Wells and
Chris Morley but a four-run tenth inning by Colorado State University-Pueblo made the difference in a 10-6 defeat for the Grizzlies.
With two outs and a runner on first, Wells sent the first home run of the game over the left center fence in the bottom of the eighth. Wells' third homer of the season brought ASU within two at 6-4. After a swift top of the ninth, thanks to the efforts of pitcher
Ben Williams, the Grizzlies came back to tie the game with Morley's home run. After a double to right by
Jake Montoya, Morley stepped into the batter's box to face CSU-Pueblo's Wyndam Williams. It was Morley who got the best of Williams as his two-run shot sailed over the left field fence to tie the affair at 6-6.
All momentum would end there as the ThunderWolves opened the game up with four runs in the top of the tenth. The Grizzlies managed to place a runner on third in their half of the inning but were unable to add to their run total.
Morley finished with a game-high three RBI along with a 3-of-5 mark at the dish. Along with his home run, the junior also accounted for two runs and a double. Pitcher
Challis Wright is credited with the loss after entering the game in the tenth.
The two teams are back in action tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
