GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (October 2
nd, 2016) --- The men's soccer team fell on the road against Colorado Mesa by a score of 0-2.
A tough afternoon of soccer resulted in 5 yellow cards against Adams State. After a scoreless first half, the Mavericks notched 2 goals and secured the easy win.
The win puts Colorado Mesa at 6-1 on the season. The loss extends the 4 game losing streak for ASU, who is now 4-6 on the year.
Coach
Brett Bentley had this to say: "Obviously we're disappointed in the result because the scoreline doesn't reflect how the game was played. It was an evenly played match where we made one mistake and couldn't recover from it. But to play straight up with one of the better teams in the region and lose 2-0 means that we continue to make strides in the right direction. We knew this season that there would be growing pains based off of all the new things we're teaching the guys. We demand that our players are well rounded players, not just simplistic role players and that's difficult for the boys at times. However with how we played today I'm confident that this group of young men will continue to be a pleasure to work with and a joy to watch."
Up next, the team travels to Fort Lewis College on October 5
th for a 3:30 match against the 5-5 Skyhawks.
