WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS (November 11th, 2016) --- Day one of the Ashbrook Classic is in the books. The Grizzlies were bested by the host school, Midwestern State 72-55.
Adams would keep the game close in the first half, trailing by only 11 at the half.
Nicole Broyles-Mortensen led the team at halftime with 12 points and 1 assist.
Lejla Hadzialijagic came through on defense in the first half with 2 blocks and a steal. The Grizzlies had a better shooting percentage in the half, shooting 41.4% while the Mustangs shot 37.5%.
In the second half, Broyles-Mortensen added another 6 points and 3 steals.
DeShea Wilkes went 2-2 from 3 point land in the second half to add 6 of her own. MSU hit 5 three-pointers in the half to increase their lead. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies could not overcome the halftime deficit and dropped the game by a final score of 72-55.
In the game,
Nicole Broyles-Mortensen put up 18 points as the team shot 35.7% overall. The Mustangs shot an impressive 46.2% from three.
