ALAMOSA, Colo. (December 3rd, 2016) --- Despite being heavy underdogs, the Grizzlies played it close with the number 12 team in the nation tonight in Alamosa. The team took Colorado State Pueblo (8-0) to the wire for three fourths of the game but were eventually defeated 45-61.

The ThunderWolves went on a 9-2 run to start the game. Adams would get as close as 4 but CSUP kept their distance. In the final seconds of the 1
st quarter,
Brooke Trujillo heaved a shot from just past halfcourt that sunk right at the buzzer. Pueblo led at the end of 1 by a score of 17-10.

Shortly into the 2
nd quarter,
Brianna Reyna hit a 3 pointer to make it a 17-15 game in favor of CSUP. A few minutes later,
Lauren McDonald was rushed down the lane for a layup and got fouled. She then hit the ensuing freethrow to give the Grizzlies their 1
st lead of the game at 20-19. A back and forth battle carried on, but the ThunderWolves were able to take a 30-25 lead into the locker room at the half.

The Grizzlies kept it within 10 for most of the 3
rd and trailed 43-33 entering the 4
th. Unfortunately, the 4
th would slip away as the ThunderWolves increased the lead to 20 on their way to a 61-45 win.

The Grizzlies (1-5) were led by
Brianna Reyna with 7 points and 2 rebounds. The ThunderWolves rode the leadership of Molly Rohrer's 17 points, 4 blocks, and 6 rebounds. Pueblo won the rebounding battle 51-39.

Coach Hunt had this to say: "I thought we played hard and smart at times. CSUP is the 12
th ranked team in the country, and I thought we challenged them."

The Grizzlies hit the road for Gunnison as they take on Western State for the next game. That game is set for 5:30pm on December 9
th.
