ALAMOSA, Colo. (February 12, 2016)— Despite junior forward
Johnette Brown's career night, Adams State University lost tonight against their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) rival Colorado State University-Pueblo on Friday by a 66-52 score. With Friday's results against the visiting ThunderWolves, Adams State has now lost fourteen consecutive conference games.
The Grizzlies (2-18, 1-17 RMAC) were paced offensively by Brown, who netted a career-high 20 points against the Pack off of 5-of-9 shooting from the field and a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line. While Brown was the focal point of the Grizzlies offensive attack, junior guard
Cydney McHenry chipped in 10 points in the affair and led the team in assists with three.
For a majority of the game the Grizzlies kept things relatively close against the Pack, utilizing a defensive formula that forced CSU-Pueblo into early turnovers. For the game, Adams State scored 24 of their points off turnovers and relied heavily on the play of their bench to stay in the game. Outside of McHenry, the Grizzly starters collectively added 16 points. The Grizzly bench on the other hand added 26 points.
Ultimately the Grizzlies could not find a defensive answer to the ThunderWolves' offensive attack in the second half of regulation. For the game, CSU-Pueblo had four players score in double-digits. Tuileisu Anderson led the ThunderWolves offensively with 12 points.
For the game Adams State converted 32.1 percent of their shots (18-56) while Colorado State University-Pueblo converted 33.8 percent (23-68).
Adams State will now prepare for Western State Colorado University on Saturday Feb. 13. The game will be the last home game of the season and is slated for a 5:30 tip-off.
