CANYON, Texas-The Adams State University Softball team saw their losing streak swell to six games on Sunday as they dropped both their final two games of the West Texas Invitational. They were shut out in both games in five innings.
The opening game saw Midwestern State take a 10-0 victory while in the final game, the host Lady Buffs defeated Adams State 8-0. Adams State, who is now 2-10 on the season, will look to return to the win column when they begin conference play next Saturday and Sunday in Denver. The Grizzlies are set to play two twin bills against Metro State University of Denver.
In the first game Adams State was only able to muster four hits while surrendering 14. After starting good without allowing a run to score in the first two innings, six hits including a grand slam in the top of the third allowed Midwestern to jump out to a 7-0 lead.Â
In the second game a four run third inning that was buoyed by a 2-run homer, helped the Lady Buffs en route to their ten hits and the win.
Out of the seven hits for the Grizzlies on Sunday, two were hit by
Paige Reichmuth and
Cheyenne Hamilton.
