WBB| Grizzlies fall to Yellow Jackets in Game One of South Dakota roadtrip

SPEARFISH, S.D. (February 5, 2016)— The Adams State University Grizzlies lost on Friday evening against conference foe  the Black Hills State University Yellow Jackets. The Yellow Jackets beat the Grizzlies by a 75-30 score and had three players score in the double-digit margins. With Friday's results, Adams State has now lost twelve consecutive conference games and will look to rebound against South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on Saturday.
 
The Grizzlies (2-17, 1-15 RMAC) were paced offensively by junior guard Cydney McHenry who collected 14 points off of 5-15 shooting from the field, 3-8 from behind the three point line, and was 1-2 from behind the charity stripe. McHenry also had a team-high two assists against the Yellow Jackets. Freshman forward Lauren McDonald collected eight points in Friday's affair and led the Grizzlies in rebounding with seven.
 
As a team the Grizzlies committed a season-high 39 turnovers which in result, translated into 44 point for Black Hills. The Grizzlies were unable to find a defensive answer to the BHSU trio of Bailey Kusser, Kelly Bertram, and Kassidy Scott. Kusser paced the Yellow Jackets with 14 points scored offensively while Bertram and Scott scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. BHSU's bench played an instrumental role in Friday's victory as the bench cashed in half of the entire points the Yellow Jackets put up on the scoreboard.  In comparison, ASU's bench added five points.
 
For the game Adams State shot 26.2 percent (11-42) from the field compared to Black Hills 49.1 percent (28-57). The Grizzlies were held to a season low three points in the first quarter of action and only scored nine points for the entirety of the first half.
