WBB| Grizzlies offense not enough to stop Hardrockers

RAPID CITY, S.D. (February 6, 2016)-Despite Adams State University having three offensive players score in the double digit margins, the Grizzlies lost on Saturdayafternoon against conference rival the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Hardrockers by a score of 58-43.
A lack of offensive production on behalf of the Grizzlies in the first half ultimately tilted the momentum of the game in favor of the Hardrockers and in result proved to be the biggest factor in the Grizzlies' thirteenth consecutive conference loss.

The Grizzlies (2-18, 1-16 RMAC) were paced offensively by freshman guard Arianna Barnes who had a career-high 13 points of 4-14 shooting from the field and was a perfect 5-5 from behind the free -throw line. Another freshman, forward Laruen McDonald had a solid showing as well, picking up 11 points and five rebounds in the affair. Cydney McHenry chipped in 10 points and cashed in five assists against the Hardrockers. Collectively the Green and White trio accounted for 34 of the 43 points as no other Grizzly player accounted for more than five points.

In the first half the Grizzlies converted 24 percent (6-25) of their shots from the field compared to the Hardrockers' 52.38 percent (11-21). Despite the first half struggles the Grizzly offense collected 24 points in the second half, relying heavily on SDSMT turnovers to be translated into points. The Grizzlies put 14 points on the scoreboard from turnovers alone.

For the Hardrockers they were led offensively by the duo of Megan Rohrer and Devyn Asche. Rohrer collected 19 points in the game while Asche chipped in 14. Sixteen of Rohrer's points were collected in the second half.
