WLAX| Grizzlies fall to Mavericks 19-3

ALAMOSA, Colo. (March 4th, 2016)— The Adams State University Grizzlies Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Colorado Mesa Mavericks in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference match up earlier on Saturday. The Grizzlies were unable to fend off the charging Mavericks as they fell 19-3.

The first half got started with an early goal from CMU just seconds into the start. The Mavericks then went on an unanswered five-goal run to give themselves a 6-0 lead before Alleah Baltzer was able to put Adams State on the board at the 20:44 mark. The Mavericks would then score nine more to make the score 15-1 going into half time.

During the first half, Samantha Teti got her chance to debut in net for the Grizzlies. Adams State faced twenty-one shots from Colorado Mesa, with seven saves made between Alyse Mims and Teti.

The second half of the contest saw the Mavericks tally three more goals to put them up 19-1 before Kendra Cheda netted her first goal of the season at 20:44 mark of the second.

With 12:13 left to play, Adams State's Cera Cyster also netted her first goal of the season, off of an assist by Baltzer, to make the score 19-3. This would be the final score of the contest.

Overall, all of Adams State's eleven shots were on target, with the Grizzlies also tallying thirteen groundballs.

Adams State will see action again on Monday when they host Nyack College at 3:00 pm at the ASU Lacrosse field.
