ALAMOSA, Colo. (April 24th, 2016)—In their last game of the season at the ASU Lacrosse field, the Adams State University Grizzlies women's lacrosse team hosted the Regis University Rangers in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) match up earlier Sunday afternoon. The Grizzlies ended up falling to the Rangers 18-4.
Regis got the ball rolling with their goal just under four minutes into the game, and would then add another goal to give them selves a 2-0 lead over Adams State before Cera Cyster would cut the score in half off of a free-position shot.
The Rangers would then go on a three-goal run before Cyster would net her second goal of the game, off of an assist by
Alleah Baltzer. Her goal would cut Regis' lead to three goals with 14:47 left in the quarter.
At the 10:33 mark of the first,
Jessica Hammer, assisted by Kristin Rickard, would then cut the lead down to 5-3.
Before halftime, the Rangers would score five unanswered goals to go up 10-3.
The second quarter got started with Regis adding seven more goals on to their lead, to go up 17-3 over Adams State.
Kendra Cheda would then net the Grizzlies' last goal of the game with 16:20 left in the game.
To bring the game to an end, Regis would net their final two goals.
Baltzer would try and get one more for the Green and White, with eight seconds left on the clock, but Regis would make the save.
Out of the Grizzlies' seven shots, six were on target. Both
Alyse Mims and
Samantha Teti saw action in today's game, where they combined for ten saves on the day. Adams State edged the Rangers in clears, as they went 12-24.
The Grizzlies wrap up their season next Friday (April 29
th) as they travel to Durango to take on the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks. Game time is set for a 3:00 pm start.
