ALAMOSA, Colo. (May 7, 2016) —
The Adams State University Grizzlies lost Saturday afternoon on Senior Day against Colorado State University-Pueblo by a score of 24-13.

In the early stages of the game, all signs pointed to another slugfest between these two clubs after CSU-Pueblo smacked in nine runs during the first inning. Not to be outdone, Adams State (22-25, 18-16 RMAC) turned in seven runs of their own in the second inning to close in on the ThunderWolves' lead.

A strong Grizzly offensive showcase in the second inning was highlighted by Dillon Bollig who hit a grand slam home run into leftfield to trim the CSU-Pueblo lead to two. For the game Bollig was 3-for-4, with six RBI, a double, and two home runs. Chris Morley and Drew Wells were also responsible for a home run during Saturday's contest.

The momentum that the Grizzlies discovered in the second inning quickly evaporated after the ThunderWolves turned in another superb hitting performance in the third.  With seven runs brought in, CSU-Pueblo scored a bulk of their runs for the entire game in an hour's worth of play.

With the ThunderWolves' offense in full motion, ASU pitching found themselves reeling and had trouble finding consistency. Pitcher Tanner Wiemers earned the loss Saturday in 0.2 innings pitched. The senior allowed nine hits and walked one batter on 39 pitches. Luke Bradshaw, Daniel Brown, and Dillion Gaasbeck also saw time on the mound for the Grizzlies.

The two teams return to the diamond tomorrow at 12 pm for the 2016 home finale. The last game of the regular season will celebrate the life of long-time San Luis Valley resident, and ASU alumnus, Ross Barlow. There will be a short pregame ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. to honor Ross' involvement with Adams State athletics and his professional work with the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Fans can follow along with tomorrow's events with free streaming video and live stats. All links can be found on the ASU baseball schedule page.
