Canyon, Texas-(September 3
rd, 2016)— The Grizzlies volleyball team split their contests on the final day of the Britkare Lady Buff Classic. The tournament was an overall success as Adams State came out with 3-1 record to begin the season.
Early this morning, the grizzlies were defeated by Eastern New Mexico (3-1) in 5 sets. The two teams traded sets, until the Greyhounds took the game in the 5
th by a score of 13-15.
Mallory Grimsrud led all scorers with 22 kills.
Katelyn Schwartz added 48 assists on the game.
Later in the afternoon, the grizzlies would get back to their winning ways by defeating the Northern Michigan Wildcats (3-2) in 5 sets. Much like their first game of the day, they would take the game to a 5
th set, but would come out victorious this time 15-8. Again,
Mallory Grimsrud would lead the way with 14 kills, while
Rachael Ringler posted 43 assists.
The Grizzlies will open up their home schedule against Metro State University of Denver on September 23rd at 7:00pm.
