DENVER, Colo. (January 7th, 2017) --- The Adams State women's basketball team was on the wrong end of things once again tonight in Denver, losing to Metropolitan State University of Denver 80-38.
Â
The Grizzlies quickly fell behind 12-4 midway through the first period and were outscored 16-7 overall. Things got much worse in the second, as Adams only managed 3 points. The halftime score was 33-10 as the Grizzlies shot 14.29% from the field. MSUD on the other hand, shot 40.91% at the half. Â
Â
A much more competitive third period went a little better, as the Roadrunners outscored the Grizzlies by only 6. Despite the effort, ASU still found themselves down 57-28 entering the fourth. More of the same occurred in the fourth, until the final horn mercifully sounded to the tune of a 42 point Roadrunner win.
Â
Adams State turned the ball over a season high 25 times which led to 22 Roadrunner points. MSUD also did a great job sharing the ball and posting 16 assists and allowing three players to reach double digits.
Lejla Hadzialijagic led all Grizzlies with 7 points.
Â
The loss drops Adams to 1-12 on the season while Metro State improves to 9-7. Â
Â
The team returns home next weekend for a Friday contest with the South Dakota School of Mines at 5:30pm and a Saturday showdown with Black Hills State at 5:30pm. Â
