Alamosa, Colorado. - The Adams State University volleyball team (8-11, 4-6 RMAC) ended its home stand on a good note tonight with a 3-0 win over Chadron State (7-11, 4-6 RMAC).
The Grizzlies controlled things for most of the night, but had to hold off late comebacks. In the first set, ASU jumped out to a 12-5 lead. The Eagles would cut that lead down to three but Adams held on for the 25-18 win. The second set stayed close but saw the Grizzlies pull away for a 25-20 win and a 2-0 lead heading into intermission. Chadron made the third interesting but fell 23-25 after
Hannah Goddard put away the night with a kill off an assist from
Katelyn Schwartz.
Mallory Grimsrud led the way with 13 kills and six total blocks.
Katelyn Schwartz was also key with 25 assists.
Hannah Goddard provided a spark with three aces to go along with her eight kills. Gaby Varela led the Eagles with 11 kills and four digs.
The Grizzlies hit the road for their next matchup with Fort Lewis on Tuesday at 7:00PM.
