ST GEORGE, Utah – There is a new captain atop the Adams State University football record book. With four catches, junior
Chad Hovasse has officially caught more passes than any other Grizzly in school history, still with a dozen games left in his career. Unfortunately, this feat was not enough to warrant a win, as Adams State fell to Dixie State 28-54 Saturday afternoon in Utah. The team finishes out the season at home, first against Colorado Mines and then against New Mexico Highlands.

The junior captain came into today's game needing just three catches to break the all-time career record of 163 catches. Hovasse now has 164 to his name and counting, as the next records in his grasp are the career records in yards and touchdowns. He needs just 54 yards to pass Bryan Bohanan for second in career receiving yards, and with his touchdown today ties Bohanan for fourth all-time in reception touchdowns. He is also just 21 catches from tying the single-season record on 88 catches, set by ASU Hall of Fame member Chris Perry.

It was a rough day for the Grizzlies defense, as the team let up the second-most total yards of the season with 620 total yards. Most of the damage was done on the ground, as the team let up 378 yards rushing to Sei-J Lauago and quarterback Blake Barney, who ran for 191 and 151 yards, respectfully.

Barney accounted for 204 yards through the air as well, completing three touchdown passes and rushing for two more.

For the Grizzlies,
Nick Rooney threw for 273 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but also let up three interceptions.
Miles Fishback also completed a touchdown pass to Hovasse in the fourth in a successful trick play.

On the receiving end, seven Grizzlies caught passes, while six were for 35 or more yards. Fishback and
Ziere Banner each eclipsed 60 yards receiving, while Hovasse, Jame Holtrop and
Marquese Surrell all had touchdown receptions.

The other score came from
Tyree Harris, punching the ball in from the one-yard line in the second quarter.
Corey Brown was the leading rusher with 77 yards on 16 carries, while Rooney chipped in 49 yards on nine carries.

Defensively,
Garrett Jackson had 13 tackles, eight of which were solo. He was joined by
Michael Dunlap with 10 tackles, including a tackle for loss and an interception.

Also for the Grizzlies,
Kane Bowen had a stellar day punting, averaging more than 46 yards per punt on five kicks. He had two kicks of 50 or more yards and one inside the 20 yard line.
