Things got off to a seemingly normal start with the Grizzlies coming out strong to take a commanding lead 20-14. It was at this point that the Cougars stopped the game and protested an illegal substitution on ASU. After a lengthy stoppage, the officials decided to reset Adams State's score to six. Now trailing 6-14, the team fought admirably but the violation left them too far behind. Despite the 25-18 loss, the Grizzlies actually outscored the opposition 12-11 and scored a total of 32 points including the points taken from the infraction. After such a controversial first, the Grizzlies left no doubt in the second. Neck and neck for most of the set, ASU scored four of the last five to win 25-21. Though the Grizzlies had some momentum in the third, the next two sets (23-25 and 18-25) went to the Cougars for the win. Â Â
