Canyon, Texas - The Adams State University men's basketball team (1-1, 0-0 RMAC) were on the road tonight against No. 21 ranked West Texas A&M (1-0). Though the first half was close, the Grizzlies could not pull the upset, falling 69-90.

Adams State would hold the lead on several occasions in the early minutes. However, leading 17-15 at the 9:47 mark, the Grizzlies relinquished that lead after being outscored 15-28 to end the half.
Brandon Sly led the team at the half with eight points and two assists. The Grizzlies out-shot the competition in the first half 34.3%-32.4%. The Buffalos benefited heavily from its six three pointers in the half.

The Grizzlies put together a comeback in the second after a layup by Fredrick Jackson cut the lead to three. Later, a layup by
Shane Johnson got it within two points. ASU would not be able to tie things up or take the lead, as the Buffs would pull away for the 21 point victory, its 22
nd straight at home.

Adams State would own the paint, gaining 42 points inside. The Buffs won the rebounding battle 47-39. The biggest advantage for West Texas A&M was their 12 three pointers (38.7%) versus Adams State's three (20%). Frederick Jackson led ASU in scoring with 13 points. Four Grizzlies reached double-digits in points on the night. David Chavlovich racked up 24 points for the Buffs while Ryan Quaid added a double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Â
