Las Vegas, N.M. – The Adams State University women's basketball team lost its' first RMAC game against New Mexico Highlands University Friday night.

The two teams played a tightly contested game throughout. New Mexico Highlands was able to outlast Adams State for a 71-63 win. Both teams were battling throughout with the largest lead being 10 by New Mexico Highlands. Adams State edged out Highlands in points in the paint along with scoring from off the bench.

Adams State trailed by only six points to New Mexico Highlands coming out of halftime. A fast start in the first quarter earned Highlands its' lead over Adams State, outscoring them 19-11. The Grizzlies would respond in the second with a two point advantage themselves, but it wasn't enough to erase the lead.

Brooke Neal led the Grizzlies in scoring with 21 points on seven of 11 shooting. Macy Meyers earned 13 points and four rebounds for the Grizzlies. Stephanie Ruiz and
Lejla Hadzialijagic both contributed 10 points and three rebounds.

The Grizzlies will travel to Pueblo, Colorado, tomorrow to face CSU-Pueblo in an evening matchup at 5:30 pm.
