Durango, Colorado - The Adams State University men's basketball team (5-6, 3-2 RMAC) may be one of the best teams with a losing record, having lost to several top teams by only a few points with a few occurring in overtime. That was the case last night as well, as the Grizzlies dropped a 96-103 contest to No. 15 ranked Fort Lewis (8-1, 5-0 RMAC) in overtime.
Â
Adams held its largest lead of the game very early after a jumper and a layup by
Brandon Sly put the Grizzlies up by three. Later tied at 29, the Skyhawks ended the half on a 16-5 run to take an 11 point halftime lead. The Grizzlies would overcome this deficit in dramatic fashion. A 21-8 run by ASU was culminated with a Sly three pointer at the buzzer to tie the game and send it into overtime.
Â
The Grizzlies would score first in overtime off a fast break but Fort Lewis would have no more of it. The Skyhawks would outscore Adams 13-6 in the extra period and stay perfect in the RMAC with a seven point win.
Â
Five Grizzlies scored in the double-digit category. These scorers were led by
Shane Johnson's 22 and
Brandon Sly's 21.
Mike Thomas added another 17 to go along with nine rebounds. The Skyhawks had a great team effort with seven scoring 11 or more. DJ Miles led the home team with 16. Â Â Â Â

The team returns to action Saturday in Utah as they take on Westminster at 7:30PM.
