WBB | Grizzlies Lose to Griffins in Close Match-Up

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Adams State University women's basketball team fell to Westminster College tonight with a final score of 56 to 66. With this loss, the Grizzlies move to 0-6 in conference play.

The Griffins began the competition tonight by outscoring the Grizzlies 21 to 13 in the first quarter and 18 to 9 in the second. Despite their strong start, the women of Adams State continued to battle throughout the entire match-up and outscored Westminster 21 to 8 in the final quarter. Although the Grizzlies fought their way back in the fourth, they were unable to secure the win in Salt Lake City. 

Notwithstanding the loss, multiple Grizzlies had outstanding performances. Junior, Brooke Neal, scored the most points for the team with 13. She also added a total of three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. 

In addition, both Stephanie Ruiz and Ki'asha Harris recorded 10 points each. Ruiz also added a remarkable six steals and an assist. Harris, on the other hand, logged three steals, three assists, and eight total rebounds. Nicole Mortensen and Lejla Hadzialijagic followed closely behind and recorded nine and eight points, respectively.

The Grizzlies will take the court again on December 29th against Colorado Christian University. The game is scheduled for 5:30 PM and will take place in Plachy Hall in Alamosa, CO.
