ALAMOSA – The Adam State University men's basketball team won in a thrilling match-up tonight against Colorado Christian University. With a final score of 85-83, the Grizzlies improve their record to 6-7 overall and 4-3 in the RMAC.

In a somewhat foul-ridden start, the Grizzlies and Cougars went point for point in the first half, only outscoring the opposing team 42-40. Coming out of the half, both teams showed similar determination in their play. In the final 20 seconds of the match-up, the Cougars led the Grizzlies 83-80. What came next was nothing short of a miracle.

Brandon Sly attempted a 3-pointer late in the game, however missed off the rim. With quick reaction and speed, Sly rebounded his own missed shot, passed the ball outside the arc to guard
Jarrett Givens who managed to sink a 3-pointer and tie the game. With a score of 83-83 and the ball in CCU's hands, the opposing team called a 30 second timeout. After the break, ASU was quick to capitalize on CCU's errors;
Shane Johnson forced an impressive turnover out of the hands of Jeremiah Hanson, causing the home team to call a timeout with six seconds left. On the inbound, Johnson launched a beautiful pass from the top right key to forward Frederick Jackson who would seal the game in the paint with an easy layup.

The men of the match,
Shane Johnson and Frederick Jackson both finished the game with 20 points each. In addition, they recorded one and two blocks, respectively.
Jarrett Givens was just as efficient on the night, scoring 17 of the Grizzlies points and dominating on the defensive end with four total steals and one block.
Brandon Sly also contributed to the win with 12 points, seven assists, and one steal.

The men of Adams State will finish out the 2017 season with a home match versus Chadron State College tomorrow night. The game will kick-off at 7:30 PM in Plachy Hall.
