ALAMOSA – The Adams State University women's basketball team finally broke their losing streak tonight to end the 2017 season with a win at home. With a commanding lead, the Grizzlies beat the Chadron State Eagles with a final score of 87-78.

In the first quarter of the match-up, ASU and CSC went point for point, with the Grizzlies only outscoring the Eagles by one point. Things began to pick up in the second quarter, as Adams State would go on a scoring rampage, entering the half with a 41-27 lead.

Coming out of the break, the Eagles started to come alive, outscoring the Grizzlies 31-25 in the third quarter. This pattern would not continue, however, as ASU would hold their fourth quarter point total to 20. Although Chadron looked hopeful in a comeback opportunity in the second half, Adams State finished the game with a final score of 87-78.

Stephanie Ruiz continued her high-scoring ways tonight with 16 total points and three assists. Brooke Neal and
Lejla Hadzialijagic followed closely behind with 13 and 11 points, respectively. In addition, they dominated on the defensive end with a combined three blocks and five steals. Finally, Macy Meyers added on an additional 14 points and one assist to seal the Grizzlies first RMAC win.

With the win, the Grizzlies improve their overall record to 3-7, and their RMAC record to 1-7. Although this game concludes the 2017 season, the Grizzlies will take on University of Colorado – Colorado Springs in the New Year, January 5, 2018, at Plachy Hall.
