Alamosa, Colorado - The Adams State University men's basketball team (5-4, 3-0 RMAC) won its third straight conference game and its fifth straight overall tonight with a 94-81 win over Western State (3-6, 1-2 RMAC in front of a capacity crowd. The last time the Grizzlies had a five game winning streak in 2014-15, they went on to finish 19-9, 14-8 RMAC.

Adams State handled the first half with relative ease in a high scoring affair. The teams combined for 100 first half points. The Mountaineers would never hold the lead and the game would never be tied in the first as the Grizzlies held a 10 point lead at the break.

Western started the second with a 15-9 run to pull within four. A
Brandon Sly three would change momentum as it sent the crowd to their feet. That momentum would continue with a 7-0 ASU run that saw several wide-open fast break scores. The Mountaineers would never threaten in the game again as the Grizzlies went on to win by 13.

Adams benefited greatly from 22 points off turnovers and 50 points in the paint.

Mike Thomas all scored over 11 points on the night. Sly led either team with 24 points and 10 of the team's 12 assists for his second straight double-double. Jackson also recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Quincy Harding led Western with 19 points and two assists. Â Â Â

The team is right back at it tomorrow following the Women's game. Tip-off is set for 7:30 against Colorado Mesa. The Mavericks lost tonight 80-96 to Fort Lewis. Â
