SEATTLE (February 12, 2017) – A weekend chalked full of top national marks continued on Sunday at the UW Indoor Open held at the Dempsey Indoor.

The day featured 18 NCAA Division II provisional marks and an automatic qualifying time resulting in a new Adams State University school record.

With a winning time of 9:28.85 in the women's 3000m, Jenna Thurman set a new ASU indoor school record. The automatic qualifying time pushed Thurman into the record books while replacing Alicia Nelson's previous school record of 9:30.37 set in 2014. A day earlier Thurman also set a new ASU indoor mile school record at 4:42.14.

Her Sunday performance adds to her impressive indoor campaign that now includes four NCAA DII auto times (800m, mile, 3000m, 5000m) along with her involvement in the NCAA DII's top-ranked DMR team that also owns an auto time. Thurman's time on Sunday now ranks fourth nationally.

In Sunday's 3000m, Thurman was joined by teammates Aden Alemu (9:44.05), Malena Grover (9:53.73), Sadie Baker (9:56.21), and Kaylee Bogina (10:02.51) who all met the provisional standard. All five ASU athletes in the event placed in the top 15 of a field of 67 runners.

Leanne Allen (2:13.22) and Roisin Flanagan (2:13.26) ran to provisional marks in the women's 800m by taking fourth and fifth place, respectively. Jessica Scherrer (2:16.93) placed 18th with her time.  Rounding out the ASU women's involvement at the UW Open was Eilish Flanagan (4:59.90) in the mile. Flanagan's provisional time placed her 12th overall.

A strong showing also occurred in the men's 3000m as Kale Adams took the win with a provisional time of 8:09.40. Chandler Reid (8:11.26) followed in second, Kyle Masterson (8:16.21) in fourth, and Lucio Ramirez (8:25.90) in 14th. Times for Reid and Masterson both met the event's provisional benchmark.

Tom Gifford took the men's 800m win by posting a provisional time of 1:52.14 as Sydney Gidabuday (1:52.72) and Austin Anaya (1:53.48) finished third and sixth place, respectively, with provisional marks.

Other ASU men to earn a provisional mark were Richard Powell (4:09.25) and Jackson Sayler (4:12.28) in the mile and Jonathan Millar (16.62m), Sam Reid (16.35m), and Brecht Van Waes (16.17m) in the shot put.

Brian Glassey (4:16.17) placed 16th overall in the mile to complete the ASU men's field on Sunday.

The Grizzlies next compete at the RMAC Championships in Spearfish, S.D. on Feb. 24-25.
