GUNNISON, Colo. (February 20, 2017) – At the Western State Open on Saturday, the women's 4x400m relay team ran a NCAA Division II provisional time of 3:45.15 (w/ altitude conversion) which now ranks fifth in the country.
The relay team of
Sunayna Wahi,
Jessica Scherrer, Diana Johnson, and Leanna Allen also broke Western State's fieldhouse record with their feat.
Also setting a new fieldhouse record was
Jonathan Millar in the men's shot put. With a season-best distance of 16.92m Millar claimed first and now ranks 17
th in the event at the national level.
Brecht Van Waes placed third in the event at 16.19m.
Diana Johnson won the women's 60m dash with a provisional time of 7.52 (w/ altitude conversion) to now rank ninth amongst NCAA DII student-athletes.
The Adams State men's DMR unit of
Oliver Aitchison,
Tom Gifford,
Austin Anaya, and
Sydney Gidabuday ran to a provisional time of 9:47.77 (w/ altitude conversion). With the time, the DMR team jumped to No. 5 in the national rankings.
Wyatt Cunningham cleared 2.04m in the men's high jump to place him on the NCAA DII provisional leaderboard. Cunningham cleared his initial attempt at 2.04m but was unable to clear 2.09m in three attempts.
Kailie Hartman competed in the women's mile taking sixth with a time of 5:45.32.
The Grizzlies are next in action on Feb. 24-25 at the RMAC Championships in Spearfish, S.D.
