CANYON, Texas. (April 22, 2017) – Adams State University Track & Field finished a weekend of competition on Sunday at the West Texas A&M Invitational. A small group of Grizzlies competed across multiple events, which resulted in two national provisional qualifying marks for junior
Micah Ballantyne.
Ballantyne competed in the Men's 100m and 200m dashes for ASU. His fourth place mark of 10.46 in the 100m and his second place mark of 21.16 in the 200m are now personal-bests for Ballantyne. Amongst NCAA Division II student-athletes, Ballantyne now ranks 20th in the 200m and 27th in the 100m.
Freshman Augie Larranaga competed in the 200m dash as well, running 22.26. Larranaga's time came after he had already placed sixth in the Men's 400m with a time of 49.47.
In the Women's 100m Hurdles,
Kiana Gomez placed fourth with a time of 14.77. Gomez then competed in the Long Jump, placing sixth with a jump of 5.28m.
Serena Canegan and
Heather Shoats competed in the Women's 200m dash. Shoats ran 26.07 and Canegan ran 26.20. Shoats also competed in the 100m dash, placing sixth with a time of 12.41.
In the Men's High Jump,
Wyatt Cunningham tied for second place, jumping 2.00m. On the women's side of the event, Canegan was fourth with 1.65m.
