WBB | Turnovers Sting Grizzlies against Yellowjackets

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Adams State University women's basketball team (3-11, 1-11 RMAC) fell to Black Hills State University (13-4, 7-4 RMAC) this Saturday in a 71-53 contest in South Dakota. Adams State returns to Alamosa momentarily, as the team returns to the North part of the conference next weekend to take on Chadron State College and Regis University.

Bench play and turnovers continued to be the story for the Grizzlies, as the team had 18 first half turnovers and no points from the bench. The first half included a second quarter in which the only points came from three Lejla Hadzialijagic free throws and a layup. No other Grizzly scored in the second quarter.

Despite the lopsided stat lines, Hadzialijagic led the team in points against as she secured her first double-double of the season with a dozen points and 10 boards. She also had three steals.

Also for Adams State, Stephanie Ruiz scored a dozen points but coughed up the ball seven times.

The Grizzlies 27 turnovers turned into 29 points for the Yellowjackets, a large factor in the loss. The bench play was a struggling points as well, as only nine points were scored from the bench compared to Black Hills' 24.
