WBB | Grizzlies Capitalize on Turnovers to Beat Chadron

Chadron, Nebraska – The women of Adams State University (4-11 overall, 2-11 RMAC) captured their second conference win tonight versus Chadron State College. In a close match-up, the Grizzlies bested the Eagles with a final score of 77-74.

This competition did not start in the Grizzlies favor as the Eagles took a commanding lead in the first quarter, leading ASU 21-13. A flip switched before the half; as Adams would go on to outscore CSC 22-13 in the second quarter.

Coming out of the locker rooms, the Grizzlies only led by one point, with a score of 35-34. In similar slow start, Adams gave up their lead to a hot Chadron team. The Eagles outscored the Grizzlies by six points going into the fourth and final quarter.

In the final ten minutes, the Grizzlies began dominating on both ends of the court, increasing their turnover ratio and capitalizing on their free throw opportunities. With Adams outscoring Chadron 29-21 in the closing quarter, the Grizzlies won with a final score of 77-74.

Stephanie Ruiz and Brooke Neal led the team in total points with 19 and 17, respectively. In addition, they combined for seven assists and two steals. Finally, Ki'asha Harris recorded a double double on the night. With ten boards and 13 points, Harris became only the third player this season to accomplish this feat. Additionally, she tallied one assist and four steals on the night.

With the win, the Grizzlies improve their overall and RMAC record to 4-11 and 2-11, respectively. Their next match-up is scheduled for tomorrow night, January 20, versus the Regis University Rangers. This competition is set to kick-off at 5:30 PM.
