WBB | Grizzlies Drop Second Consecutive Loss to Roadrunners

ALAMOSA – The Adams State University women's basketball team dropped another match at home tonight in Plachy Hall. With a final score of 83-67, the Grizzlies (3-9 overall, 1-9 RMAC) were unable to capture the win against the currently ranked #4 Metro State Roadrunners (10-5 overall, 6-3 RMAC).

In a slow start for the Grizzlies, the Roadrunners were able to seal a strong lead of 10 points in the first quarter. Despite this deficit, ASU continued to battle, outscoring Metro 15-10 in the second.

Coming out of the locker room, the 34-29 scoreboard favored Metro. In a point-for-point third quarter, both teams managed to tally an additional 21 points to their total. This pattern would not continue, however, as the Roadrunners outscored the Grizzlies by 11 points in the fourth quarter and would seal the game with a final score of 83-67.

Stephanie Ruiz led all scorers and captured her third 20-point game of this season. In addition, she recorded two assists and two steals. Brooke Neal and Lejla Hadzialijagic followed closely behind with 11 points each. They also combined for three assists and eight steals.

Adams State will head to Rapid City, South Dakota to take on South Dakota Mines University next Friday, January 12. The match-up is set to kick-off at 5:30 PM.
