ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Volleyball team defeated Black Hills State this Saturday night in Plachy Hall. The Grizzlies overcame the Yellow Jackets in four sets.

The night began with a tightly contested set one. It was a back-and-forth pace throughout the entire set. The score was tied up at 18 when the Yellow Jackets began to separate themselves from the Grizzlies. Black Hills State went on to win the set, 25-20.

The Grizzlies came out full of energy in set two. Adams State got off to a monstrous 10-2 lead. The Grizzlies continued to increase the lead, now at 20-5. Adams State went on to defeat Black Hills State, 25-9.

Set three was similar to set two with the Grizzlies coming out to a huge lead. Adams State led Black Hills State 10-5 early on. The Yellow Jackets would make a push at the Grizzlies but would fall short. Adams State came out on top of Black Hills State, 25-15 in set three.

The Yellow Jackets got off to an early 6-1 lead in the fourth and final set. However, the Grizzlies wouldn't fold and continue to push back. Adams State tied Black Hills State at 10. It was a back-and-forth scoring set from this point on. Both teams went on to trade points until the end. Adams State ultimately defeated Black Hills State, 25-21.

Hannah Goddard led the team in kills at 18 with Shannon Mulkey earning a respectable 13. Julianna Zamora and Grecia Diaz Martinez weren't far behind with ten kills each. Rachael Ringler finished as the team-leader in assists at 56.

The Grizzlies now improve to 8-13 and 5-8 in the RMAC. Adams State is back at Plachy Hall next weekend for its final home games of the season.
