ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Volleyball team fell short to Colorado Mesa Friday night in Plachy Hall. The Grizzlies were defeated in a hard-fought four set thriller.

The Grizzlies came out firing in set three. Adams State had previously dropped sets one and two. Adams State was pressuring Colorado Mesa in a back-and-forth set. Colorado Mesa gained a 21-19 lead before Adams State came out to tie it at 21. The teams went on to trade points till the end when the Grizzlies closed it out, 29-27.

Adams State was challenging Colorado Mesa in set one throughout the entire first half. However, the Mavericks continued to slowly increase the lead over the Grizzlies. Adams State couldn't reach Colorado Mesa and fell by a score of 25-16.

Set two was an even match in the beginning moments. However, just like set one, the Mavericks continued to push the lead up. Adams State had no answer for Colorado Mesa and fell short, 25-14.

The Mavericks got off to a quick 6-0 lead in the fourth and final set. Adams State came back to tie it up at 16 midway through the set. A small run by the Mavericks separated themselves from the Grizzlies just enough to pull away with the victory, 25-21.

Hannah Goddard led the Grizzlies with 15 kills. Shannon Mulkey wasn't far behind with a respectable 12 kills. Rachael Ringler led the team with 44 assists on the night.
