ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Volleyball team defeated Western Colorado in its final home match of the season. The Grizzlies swept the Mountaineers in just three sets.
The Grizzlies took the early lead to begin the match in set one. Adams State continued to run the score on Western Colorado. The Mountaineers couldn't keep up with the Grizzlies. Adams State routed Western Colorado, 25-8.
Adams State snatched the lead early in set two, 5-0 over the Mountaineers. Western Colorado came back to tie the set at 10. However, the Grizzlies wouldn't surrender easily and continued to seize control of the set. Adams State withstood a late run by Western Colorado to seize the 25-22 victory.
The Grizzlies showed grit overcoming an early deficit in set three. Adams State fell behind Western Colorado 6-2 early on. The Grizzlies routed eight straight points to take the 23-18 lead over the Mountaineers. Adams State finished Western Colorado off, 25-19.
Grecia Diaz Martinez led the team in kills at 11. Shannon Mulkey and Hannah Goddard finished the night with nine kills each respectively. Rachael Ringler led as the leader in assists with 39.
