ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State University Women's Soccer team will be on the road this weekend as they face off with Colorado Mesa University and Western Colorado University. The Grizzlies are currently sitting at 2-11 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
Last week, during their matchup with Dixie State University, the Grizzlies could only collect one total shot for the game as the Trailblazers ran away with the win, 4-0. The Grizzlies also matched up with Westminster College losing 5-1. The Grizzlies were outshot 31-13 for the game. Breana Flores scored the lone goal for the Grizzlies in the 54th minute
Scouting the Mavericks
The Mavericks currently sit at 5-5-3 and 3-4-2 in conference play. The Maverick offense is currently averaging over a goal per game (1.08) and over 17 shots per game (17.2). Ryanne Parker and Lauren Thompson currently lead the Mavericks with three goals apiece. Lexi Newton has two goals with a 0.581 shot on goal percentage. The Mavericks defense is something to watch out for. Currently, the defense is holding opponents to 1.23 goals per game and 14.4 shots per game. The Mavericks have used four different goalkeepers this season to combine for 67 saves and four shutouts. The Grizzlies will head to Grand Junction, Colorado to play the Mavericks at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19.
Scouting the Mountaineers
The Mountaineers are 3-9-1 overall and 3-5-1 in conference play. Megan Wheelock leads the team in goals with three, while Alex Mason has scored two goals this season in 8 attempts. Wheelock also leads the team in shots, shots on goal, and assists. The Mountaineer offense is averaging .77 goals per game while allowing 1.54 goals per game. The Grizzlies and Mountaineers will match up on Sunday, Oct. 21 in Gunnison, Colorado at 1 p.m.
