ALAMOSA, Colo. - The Adams State Men's Basketball team shot lights out from beyond the arc to defeat South Dakota School of Mines Sunday night. The Grizzlies improve to 3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

It was a back and forth contest the first 10 minutes of the game. The Grizzlies were just leading by just two, 19-17. However, three consecutive three point baskets by Davere Creighton brought the Grizzly lead to nine, 28-19.

The Hardrockers cut the lead down to five after back-to-back field goals. Creighton would quickly answer back with his fourth straight basket from beyond the arc. A strand of Grizzlies turnovers helped South Dakota School of Mines come within one point of the Grizzlies, 31-30.

Adams State held off the Hardrockers to head into halftime with the 38-36 lead. The Grizzlies shot just 40% from the field, but an incredible 63% from behind the arc. Adams State also sank nine of 11 free throws in the first half.

Creighton finished with 18 points in the first half on 6 of 7 shooting from three point range. The Grizzlies defense kept the Hardrockers in check shooting just 41% from the field. Mitchell Sueker led the team with 10 first half points for the Hardrockers.

The Grizzlies didn't lose a beat at the start of the second half. Adams State continued to pressure the Hardrockers leading by eight with seven minutes gone from the half. South Dakota School of Mines cut the lead down to just one, 51-50 with under 10 minutes to play.

A 12-0 Grizzly run quickly defeated any hopes of a Hardrockers comeback. Adams State had now increased its lead to 13 with just five minutes remaining in the game. The Hardrockers would briefly cut it to single digits but the Grizzlies were too much to handle. Adams State went on to defeat South Dakota School of Mines by 14 points, 75-61.

The Grizzlies shot 44% from the field, while going 50% from three. Adams State finished with 35 boards and 18 assists for the night. The Grizzlies were clutch from the line sinking 18 of 23 free throws.

Creighton led the way for the Grizzlies with 33 points and seven rebounds. Creighton finished with nine threes on just 13 shots from behind the arc. Ricky Norris came two assists shy of a triple-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

Adams State held South Dakota School of Mines to just 41% shooting for the game. Sueker finished with a team-high 16 points for the Hardrockers. Damani Hayesm earned a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Grizzlies make won't make their return to the court until the new year. Adams State will be on the road Jan. 4 to face off against Chadron State.
