MBB| Western Stuns Adams To Break A Four Game Winning Streak

GUNNISON, Colo. - The Adams State University men's basketball team (14-11, 12-7 RMAC) were stunned by the conference's No. 10 ranked Western State (10-15, 8-11 RMAC) team. The loss snaps a four game winning streak and knocks the Grizzlies back down to sixth place in the conference.

The lead only changed hands one time, and it was in the first few minutes of the game. The Mountaineers rode a constant effort to a 46-38 halftime lead. Western held their ground for most of the second half as well until a Brandon Sly layup cut the lead to four. Later, a Sly three pointer again put the game within distance at five with only three minutes left in the game. The Mountaineers would never let it get close again and went on to win by 11 and sweep Adams on the year.

Brandon Sly was phenomenal in the loss with 28 points, four assists, and went 4/9 from three. Shane Johnson also added 23 points and five rebounds. Mike Thomas posted a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Collin Smith led Western with 28 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks.

The Grizzlies travel for its last road game next Friday at Colorado Christian at 7:00PM.
