LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Adams State University women's basketball team fell to Colorado Christian University Friday night by a score of 55-60. The Grizzlies close out the season at home against Fort Lewis and Westminster College next Tuesday and Thursday in Plachy Gymnasium. Tuesday will serve as an Academic Appreciation Night, while the season finale will serve as Senior Night.
The Grizzlies surged back with a 23 point fourth quarter against the Cougars, twice as much as they scored in each of the previous three quarters.
Stephanie Ruiz,
Ki'asha Harris,
Lejla Hadzialijagic and
Brooke Neal all were the main contributors, each playing 15 minutes and scoring five or more points in the second half. In total, Hadzialijagic lead the team with a dozen points, while Ruiz and Harris chipped in 11 and 10 points, repectfully.
Adams had chances, cutting the game to a two point affair with four minutes remaining in the final quarter. Unfortunately four turnovers in that final four minutes were too much to overcome, as the team could only bring it to a three point game in the final minute.
Jordan Baer was a force down low for the Cougars, scoring a double-double with game-high 19 points and 12 boards. She did nearly half her damage from the charity stripe, shooting nine-of-10 from the free throw line.
