ALAMOSA – The Adams State University women's basketball team (5-18, 3-18 RMAC) fell to Fort Lewis College (20-7, 14-7 RMAC) Tuesday evening by a score of 78-64.

Fort Lewis took control in the first quarter by outscoring Adams State, 24-8. The Skyhawks didn't ease up as they outscored the Grizzlies by nine points in the second quarter. Fort Lewis led 48-23 at the half. Adams came out firing in the third, putting up 27 points on Fort Lewis. After a tightly scored fourth quarter, Adams State fell to Fort Lewis, 78-64.

It was a rough shooting night for Adams shooting more than 39 percent from the field. The Grizzlies scored just 11 points off the bench while having only two fast-break points. Fort Lewis shot 50 percent from the field while hitting more than 54 percent from beyond the arc. The Skyhawks went 22-for-31 from the free throw line.

Stephanie Ruiz went 8-for-16 from the field, putting up 19 points.
Lejla Hadzialijagic scored 19 points and grabbed five boards.
Brooke Neal scored an additional 12 points, while
Ki'asha Harris grabbed a team-high, eight rebounds.

 Fort Lewis' Kayla Herrera had a monstrous game, leading her team with 36 points and five rebounds. Jordan Carter and Sydney Candelaria chipped in an additional 16 and 11 points off the bench.
Adams State's final game will be at home this Thursday against Westminster College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. Â
