ALAMOSA – Adams State University women's lacrosse team opened the 2018 season at home Saturday afternoon against the No.22-ranked Colorado Mesa University. The team fell by a score of 19-2. Adams looks to come back tomorrow at 3 p.m. against UCCS at home.

The Mavericks opened up the first fifteen minutes on the attack, scoring six goals from six different people.
Jessica Hammer would put the Grizzlies on the board in the 12
th minute, but the Mavericks were too much as they went on to score 11 in the first half.

Things would improve in the second half for the Grizzlies, as
Samantha Hammer would score the final team's goal. The Mavericks only scored five goals in the first 27 minutes of the second half, but then went on a three goal tear in the final three minutes to finish the game.

For the Grizzlies, Kendall Baylor forced three turnovers and recovered a team-high four ground balls.
Alexis Wellong made her goalie debut, making a dozen saves in the game.
