ALAMOSA – Adams State University women's lacrosse team fell to University of Colorado-Colorado Springs this afternoon in Alamosa by a score of 16-9, despite scoring six unanswered goals in a 20 minute span in the second half. The women return to action in two weeks in a home contest against Rockhurst University on March 10
th.

The Grizzlies opened up scoring by the way of
Jessica Hammer in the first three minutes of the game. Four UCCS goals would find the net before
Savannah Penland found her first goal of the season. Six more goals would go unanswered by the Mountain Lions before
Samantha Hammer joined her sister on the scoreboard. The three Grizzlies would score once again in the same order in the second half, followed by
Cera Cyester and then a third round of goals for the Hammer sisters. Unfortunately, time ran out on the Grizzlies who won the second half by a score of six to three.

The Grizzlies played much better today, putting up 18 shots, 15 of which were on goal.
Samantha Hammer led the team with six shots, while Jessica was crucial with five draw controls and groundballs.

Defensively,
Alexis Wellong made a career-high 19 saves in the decision.
Jessica Hammer had three caused turnovers to lead the team, alongside
Libby Weeks and Cyester with a pair each.
